The Province of Parma and Emilia Romagna region offer a wealth of culture, art, history and nature. Parma is a beautiful city well known for its central area including the Cathedral and Baptistery, two of Italy’s finest examples of Romaneque art there are also many later French cultural and architectural influences brought by Maria Luigia, Napoleon Bonaparte’s second wife after she was assigned the Dukedom of Parma in 1816. The export of Parma Ham and Parmiggiano Reggiano cheese are appreciated worldwide in an area which celebrates gastronomy.

The castles, palaces and historic villages in the area extending from the Appenine Mountains to the Po plain valley are a testimony of the history and culture in an area great for skiers in the winter and walkers and cyclists in the summer. The area also benefits from a number of golf courses ideal for a tour.

Since Roman times hot springs at Monticelli Terme, Salsomaggiore Terme and Tabiano Terme have been used for health benefits and still offer unique treatments today.
The area benefits from a rich calendar of opera and events at a variety of theatres including Parma’s famous Teatro Regio, legacy of composer Giuseppe Verdi and Musician and Orchestra Director Arturo Toscanini.

The Coasts of Liguria and Emilia Romagna can be reached easily by train and mortorway from Parma. Other important tourist destinations can be accessed easily from Parma making it an ideal central base.
