The Gastronomy from this area is renound world wide, thanks to the climate, geographical location and traditional methods still adopted today. This area has become known as the food valley.
The territory is characterised by both the mountains hills and valleys and by contrast the flat fertile plains bringing a wealth of gastronomic delights to the table.
The production of famous products such as Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, Prosciutto di Parma (Parma ham), Culatello di Zibello (A traditional ham from the Zibello area) and Salame di Felino among others which are exported world wide.
Other delights such as Porcini mushrooms and truffles come from the Taro Valley south of Parma which is often a surprise for visitors.
The area has developed three itineraries for food lovers; La Strada dei vini e sapori and La Strada del prosciutto. Each route will take you on a journey through beautiful countryside, mountains and hills sampling the local tastes and smells which define this area so well with local factories happy to give tours.
